We’re thrilled to welcome our co-founder Brian Monahan back to 
NewCo in the role of Chief Evangelist. Brian and I brainstormed what eventually became NewCo Festivals on a bike ride just north of San Francisco in 2012. On that ride, Brian pitched me the idea of an “artist open studio for business,” focusing on innovative organizations that were creating positive change in the world. Little did we know that in three short years, we’d be hosting festivals around the globe (25 to date and counting!) and find ourselves rolling out a media publication, NewCo Shift, designed to cover the greatest business story since the Industrial Revolution.
Brian comes to us from Walmart.com where he was VP of Marketing. Brian’s talents in media, marketing, branding, communications and research come at a crucial time for the NewCo movement – we’re ramping up for a huge Fall, and his skills and counsel will serve not only NewCo, but also our partners, in particular our sponsors and advertisers.
Brian is a twenty-five-year marketing veteran. He comes to NewCo after three years as Vice President of Marketing for Walmart.com, where he was responsible for growing customer relationships, driving ecommerce sales, and monetizing traffic through digital advertising. He also helped lead Walmart’s embrace of sustainable business practices by launching the Sustainability Leaders store on Walmart.com. He’s won numerous awards and was named “Media Maven” by Ad Age in 2015, was inducted into the American Advertising Federation’s Hall of Achievement in 2013, and received Ad:Tech’s inaugural “Industry Innovator” in 2012.
Brian will focus on NewCo’s core narrative, our brand strategy, and our sales and marketing practices. He’ll also help build our products and keep us focused on delivering NewCo’s value for our diverse audiences: festival attendees, editorial followers, our 1000+ featured companies, and our sponsors. We’ve come along way since that bike ride, and with Brian’s help, we’ll go further and farther than we’ve yet dreamed.
